About us

Glacier View Guesthouse is a cosy, family-run guesthouse with dramatic views over some of the beautiful Icelandic nature. Our rooms are newly built, spacious and feature private bathrooms.

In the main house, we serve breakfast and soup and dessert every evening. We offer 3 types of homemade soups, our meat soup is made from lamb meat from the local farmer with fresh vegetables, the fish soup is equally as good but with fresh Icelandic fish and lastly, the vegan soup is made from scratch with various vegetables.  We also have home-baked bread and dips with the soups. Please note that dinners need to be booked in advance. The main house also features a spacious living room where our guests are welcome to relax.

We are located on the South Coast of Iceland, between the towns of Vík and Kirkjubæjarklaustur and 220 km (3-hour drive) from Reykjavík with many of the South Coast’s natural attractions located within short driving distances.

Beautiful setting, great food and warm hospitality

My daughter and I stayed one night on our self-driving tour through Iceland at Glacier View Guesthouse. The setting was serene and beautiful. I had read the food was good so we signed up to eat dinner. Elly fixed a traditional Roast of Lamb meal with so many sides and it was outstanding. So was our home cooked breakfast. Our room was comfy, clean and quiet.

Great views, outstanding food and hospitality

My wife, our 30-year-old daughter, and I had a great two-night stay here. Elin is an outstanding host and superb chef. I had the best lamb roast in my life at her gracious dinner. The Arctic char another night was excellent as well. We enjoyed seeing the sights and just soaking in the bucolic countryside. One side of the room looks out to the glacier and the large window on the other looks to open fields where we saw the Northern Lights without leaving our room.

Amazing hotel with beautiful views

We loved our stay here. The rooms are cozy and have everything you could need. The beautiful big windows let you enjoy the view even if it is chilly outside. The breakfast was fantastic and the stuff could not have been kinder or more accomodating. we would stay here again any time!

Fantastic stay!

Myself and 2 friends stayed for two nights and it was exactly what we wanted. Lovely accommodation, clean and modern, warm and nice bathroom. Breakfast had a good range and dinner was offered both nights which other guests said was delicious, although we didn’t join. The hosts were delightful and very helpful with suggesting routes for sightseeing. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights both nights. Can’t recommend highly enough. Would definitely stay again.
